No One Looks At Me

A Poem

No one looks at me
the way you look
at me
with stars in your eyes
and the depths
of your soul
behind those irises

No one looks at me
the way you look
at me
with gentle disgust
because I forgot
the f*cking egg rolls
last night

No one looks at me
the way you do
when you’re half-dressed
luring me
into your web
and never letting me go

No one looks at me
the way you do
when you hate me so
because I’m not him
and never will be
I’m just me
Inadequate

No one looks at me
when we’re together
because our forcefield
is impenetrable
to the outside world
all trying to get in
to take our love
