No, I don't see that all. You are creating a false construct. Why would anyone ever think that someone who does one of these things does all of them? Where does that leap get made? They are all separate entities of the Internet Writer as a whole, but that is a conglomeration. The problem with your query is that you are trying to take words that say something and add a hidden meaning, of which there is none. It's not an overly serious piece, it's light satire based on obvious truths and healthy sarcasm.
The reason why you think Medium is about making money or having fun is the problem with Medium. It's not Medium, it's the people who use it to try to gain something that they are not entitled to with spam sham, follow for follow, and the like. Do you think Medium's publications are about making money? No, they are about higher-end work, now at least.
What it says about my attitudes and validity is exactly the opposite of what it says about your view. I am here for pure reasons. I don't want to make money. I don't need the money. I want to write what I want and publish writers I believe in. If I choose to not believe in writers who engage with or on publications that foster spam, that is surely my choice to keep my publications in the best interests of all the writers. Saying other people are here for money so I am too devalues the act of writing. It's why there is SO much garbage on Medium.
I have no stress at all and only people who feel seen behind the curtain of disdain say that someone is trying to make it their way. I am not trying to make Medium my way, I am just protecting my own tiny space and curating the way I see fit. I'm quite sure that is logical.
Did you honestly just insinuate that I am not a good example to others? Your mania and attachment disorder to a publication are showing off the cult-like atmosphere that is at the bottom of your initial comment. Sometimes people need the truth instead of a warm cup of tea because a lot of times (not the Dalai Lama of course), the hand that is being put out as an aid to one's creative growth is actual the hand of a call-to-action down the road which will show itself soon enough.
Your thought about what readers have enjoyed and rewarded should hold true, in theory, but because of publications like the one you laud with praise in many of your stories, the paywall and the true metrics are disrupted because people learn to clap because you are part of the cult and not for the best work. When it is encouraged within a publication, to band together to help each other out that way, it negates the entire process, especially when it happens so many times each day.
Have a good night.
